About the trip
This 26-night cruise with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines sets off from Liverpool, steering south to Gibraltar and Cartagena before crossing into the Mediterranean. Sailing the Strait of Messina, the ship calls at Messina and Siracusa on Sicily’s eastern coast, where history is etched into ancient streets and sunbaked stone.
From there, Borealis cruises the Bay of Kotor, which cuts sharply inland in Montenegro – the water surrounded by mountains. The journey continues along the Croatian coastline with stops in Kotor, Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, and Koper in Slovenia, each port offering glimpses of medieval walls and quiet backstreets. The ship touches Albania’s Sarandë, known for its archaeological ruins, before a turn past the smoking Stromboli volcano and onto Sardinia’s port of Cagliari.
