Fred. Olsen’s Borealis sets out from Liverpool for a steady cruise south to the southern coasts of Spain and Morocco. After three days at sea, there is a stop in Cádiz, a city known for its old town crammed with plazas and narrow streets. Crossing to Morocco, the itinerary includes Tangier, where the medina offers a maze of markets and a slower pace just a short walk from the ship. Casablanca follows, where the city’s modernism contrasts with its historic mosques.
Further south, the ship calls at Agadir, a coastal town known for its beach and recent rebuilding after an earthquake, then heads back north to Spain’s Canary Islands. In Las Palmas, Borealis joins Balmoral for a day, a maritime meet-up that’s a reminder this is still a small community at sea. The cruise finishes with a visit to Vigo on Spain’s northern Atlantic coast, resting after some multiple days of sailing between ports.
The passage allows time to watch the open sea, as well as the population shifts from Andalusia’s flat coasts to the volcanic islands of the Canaries. It does not hurry, making it an option for those who appreciate a quieter pace and the odd spot of Moroccan tagine alongside more familiar Spanish flavours.
