About the trip

This small-group tour from Just You takes you first to Australia’s east coast, starting with several days in Sydney where the Harbour Bridge and Opera House dominate the harbour view. After a laid-back visit to Port Stephens, the journey continues along golden beaches to Brisbane and Cairns, with time to explore the Great Barrier Reef from a comfortable catamaran.

The trip then moves inland to the Red Centre, where Uluru impresses with its huge sandstone bulk and changing colours at dawn and dusk. Following Adelaide and the Great Ocean Road, you cross into New Zealand’s North Island, from volcanic Rotorua and the glowworm-lit Waitomo Caves to the Art Deco town of Napier. The South Island offers the TranzAlpine train through alpine gorges, glacier country, and Milford Sound’s deep fjord.

Finally, the pace slows for four nights on Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, where palm-lined beaches and a lagoon offer a chance to relax after almost six weeks on the road. Unlike flights that blur the calendar with the international date line, the travel itself has plenty of varied landscapes and a few moments to pause and appreciate the views.
