About the trip
This week-long escorted tour by Explore Worldwide travels through the Baltic capitals of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, each distinct yet connected by their varied pasts. Starting in Vilnius, the itinerary strolls through its cobbled Old Town, visits the Gate of Dawn chapel and offers a sobering glimpse into Soviet times at the KGB Museum.
Heading west, the tour pauses at the island-set Trakai Castle and Kaunas, Lithuania’s interwar capital, before settling at Pakruojis Manor, a 34-building estate where period architecture is matched by beers brewed onsite. On route to Riga, the Hill of Crosses presents a quietly defiant monument that has endured attempts at destruction. Riga’s market, housed in converted Zeppelin hangars, invites a closer look at local flavours and crafts.
The final two days take the group to Estonia’s capital, Tallinn, where medieval streets meet seaside spa towns.
