About the trip
This seven-night small-group tour with Explore Worldwide links four capitals via train and coach, beginning in Budapest, where the Danube slices through medieval Buda and the more contemporary Pest. A walking orientation highlights the Parliament, Saint Stephen’s Basilica and Fisherman's Bastion, among other sites.
From Budapest, the group travels to Bratislava, a compact city with a maze of medieval streets punctuated by Michael's Gate and the Main Square. The following day brings a quick train ride to Vienna for a walking tour covering sites ranging from the Imperial Treasury to the Spanish Riding School — though you won’t have time to look inside. That afternoon offers the option of a boat trip back to Bratislava along the Danube.
The later stages explore Mikulov, a quieter town in the South Moravian wine region where days include castle visits, wine tastings and a walk in a UNESCO-listed chateau park. The final stop is Prague, topped with its many bridges and the Charles Bridge in particular, plus the Jewish cemetery and historic Old Town Square. There’s a free day for optional trips and quiet exploration before the tour ends after breakfast.
