Here, the long Siq gorge hints at the rose-tinted façades of the Treasury and the tombs beyond. An evening’s candlelit walk through the Siq casts flickering shadows on rock surfaces, punctuated by the voices of a local Bedouin group. Days spent cycling hold the quiet contrast of desert expanses and upland roads. Wadi Rum’s dunes rise like islands of granite, and the chance to sleep in a goat-hair tent brings a pause to the constant pedal.

The tour winds down in Aqaba, beside coral reefs and palms, where relaxation looks an easy plan before the return to Amman. The pace is brisk but measured, with the occasional traditional meal, Ottoman bath and plenty of room to note a sapphire night sky.
