The route then takes you through forest valleys, passing a wooden flour mill and Roman monastery, with views of the Fagaras Mountains. You cycle past ancient water barrel whirlpools and visit the Orthodox Sambata Monastery before heading to Sibiu, known for its fortified 15th-century walls and brick buildings that give it the nickname "Red City."

Later days include riding through the rural Hartibaciu Valley and visiting the ruins of a Cistercian abbey near Carta, as well as an optional visit to the 15th-century fortified church in Biertan before arriving at Sighisoara, one of Europe’s largest inhabited castles. The return to Bucharest includes a stop at Peles Castle, decorated with Persian carpets and Renaissance weapons. The cycling sections are varied, with quiet gravel tracks and some hill climbs, and the end includes time to explore cities on foot.
