Big Five game drives in Kruger National Park
Sunset cruise on the Zambezi River at Victoria Falls
This 21-night escorted tour from Travelsphere begins in Cape Town, where cable cars go up Table Mountain when the famous tablecloth of cloud isn’t blocking the view. The Cape Peninsula day includes a drive along Chapman’s Peak, a visit to a penguin colony at Boulders Beach, and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Journeys
Heading east, the route follows the Garden Route and its ancient forests, with stops at knobbly ostriches on a farm, the Cango Caves tucked into a limestone ridge and Birds of Eden, the world’s largest free-flight aviary. The tour ventures inland to the KwaZulu-Natal battlefields, where two bloody conflicts unfolded in the late 19th century, before reaching Greater Kruger for game drives in open safari vehicles that seek out the Big Five.
A highlight is the Panorama Route, featuring God’s Window and the Graskop Gorge Lift. The trip concludes with three nights at Victoria Falls, including a guided walk beside the falls and a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, and a final return to Johannesburg before the journey home.
