About the trip
This escorted tour with Explore Worldwide heads to some of the most southerly points of South America, beginning in Buenos Aires. You’ll walk through the city’s European-influenced neighbourhoods, including the colourful La Boca and bohemian San Telmo, before heading to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city. From here, the nearby Tierra del Fuego National Park offers forest trails and lakes with views of condors and foxes.
Crossing into Chile by ferry and bus, the route takes in Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales before arriving at Torres del Paine National Park. The park’s steppe and mountains form the backdrop for moderate to challenging hikes, with sightings of guanacos, flamingos and condors, alongside ancient cliff paintings. The tour then passes into Argentina once more, visiting the Perito Moreno Glacier and later the hiking hub of Chalten, providing extensive trekking opportunities around the Fitz Roy massif.
The two-day extension is a contrast of scale and temperature at the mighty Iguazu Falls, split between its Argentine and Brazilian sides. Here, the roaring cascade spills into a rainforest alive with toucans and butterflies.
