About the trip
This slow-paced small-group tour from Just You begins in Porto, a city known for its port wine and the winding streets of Ribeira. Christmas is spent calmly here, with a festive lunch and plenty of time to wander from the ornate Clérigos Church to the atmospheric Lello Bookstore where books climb to the ceiling.
The journey continues north to Viana do Castelo with its shipbuilding history and leafy hilltop Pousada, then to Guimarães with its medieval castle and the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança. After a visit to Coimbra’s university and cathedral, the group moves south to Cascais on the Lisbon coast.
The final days include Lisbon’s Belém district and Baixa, Sintra’s palaces and the westernmost point of mainland Europe at Cabo da Roca. New Year’s Eve is spent in the quiet hill town of Óbidos with a gala dinner before a gentle start on New Year’s Day in Cascais. The group returns to Lisbon for the flight home.
