Journeys
This escorted cycling holiday begins in Murcia, a university town framed by mountains and known for its cathedral and the Church of San Nicolás de Bari. After an optional gentle spin to Fuensanta Sanctuary on day one, the ride moves on to Bullas and the converted railway path Via Verde del Noroeste, with a detour to the hilltop town of Cehegín, before settling into a 16th-century monastery in Caravaca de la Cruz, one of the Catholic world’s five Holy Cities.
Subsequent rides tackle the history and varied landscape of the region, from a 400-metre climb to the Celtiberian village of Archivel, through almond and olive groves, and past the Virgen de la Esperanza Sanctuary carved into the rock face above the Segura River. The final day traces the Ricote Valley’s shifting scenery—from arid slopes to palm-lined orchard oases—before a quiet ride back along the Segura’s banks to Murcia. With a mix of quiet country lanes and short stretches of unpaved tracks, the tour offers both manageable challenges and time for local specialties like Murcian paella and Michirones stew.
