Malta and Gozo Discovery

This seven-night tour with Explore Worldwide spends four days on the island of Gozo, beginning with the fortified Citadel and the graffiti-covered prison in Victoria, before visiting the megalithic temples of Ggantija and the cave linked to Homer’s Odyssey. Walks along rugged coastline offer chances to swim in secluded bays, weather permitting.

The second half of the trip is on Malta, starting in Valletta with a detailed walking tour through its narrow streets, including St John’s Co-Cathedral and Upper Barrakka Gardens. Nearby, the Three Cities and Marsaxlokk fishing port provide a quieter, less-visited view of Maltese harbour life, capped by a harbour cruise to appreciate the scale of the defensive walls.

Later days include visits to the Hagar Qim and Mnajdra temple complexes, a boat trip through the Blue Grotto caverns if weather allows, and a food tasting at a family-run farm, alongside a stroll through Mdina’s medieval lanes and the private San Anton Botanical Gardens.
