Scandinavian Explorer

Travelsphere’s escorted Scandinavian Explorer begins in Oslo, where the day’s free time invites a walk around Bjørvika’s modern waterfront or a quieter stroll by Aker Brygge. The city tour includes the Royal Palace and Vigeland Park, home to more than two hundred sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. Then it’s on to Sweden with a pause in Örebro, whose 13th-century castle stands on a river island.

The route continues to Stockholm, spread over fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea. Highlights include the Vasa warship, salvaged after sinking in 1628, and Skansen, an open-air museum preserving Swedish rural life and Nordic animals. A cruise offers a novel view of the city’s twelve bridges and waterways. After a day in Jönköping, known in part for its concentration of churches and its location on Lake Vättern, the tour heads to Copenhagen.

In Denmark’s capital, a guided morning tour passes Christiansborg Palace and the Little Mermaid, that modest statue which still prompts a pause by the harbour. Afternoons are left free, tempting a café pause or some time on Strøget’s design shops. The return flight to the UK comes after a final breakfast.
