Tour · 7 nights · with Explore Worldwide
A seven-night escorted tour by Explore Worldwide that follows Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast from Zagreb to Dubrovnik, including Plitvice Lakes and historic towns like Trogir and Sibenik, with time to linger on quiet islands.
Highlights
Walking trails around 16 lakes and waterfalls at Plitvice National Park
Roman streets and the Sea Organ in Zadar
Historic St James Cathedral in Sibenik
Visits to Zlarin and car-free Prvic islands
Diocletian's Palace and Old Town in Split
This small-group escorted tour begins in Zagreb, where the red roofs and cobbled streets offer a quieter introduction to a European capital than most. From there, the route turns inland to Plitvice Lakes National Park, where wooden walkways trace around its sixteen turquoise lakes and waterfalls, a landscape shaped by ongoing geological processes.
Journeys
History
Following the coast southwards, the tour visits Zadar and Sibenik, where the latter’s St James Cathedral stands guard above a network of narrow alleys and a sea inlet. Two islands in the Sibenik archipelago showcase local life: Zlarin, with its coral centre and fruit trees, and the small, car-free Prvic, where an afternoon stroll reveals traditional stone houses.
The last two days travel along the coast from Trogir’s medieval streets to Split’s Roman emperor’s palace. A four-and-a-half-hour ferry ride calls at four islands before arriving in Dubrovnik for a guided tour of its Old Town and a hilltop walk above the city. The pace allows time to appreciate each stop and the subtle shifts in landscape and light along the way.
