About the trip
This seven-night escorted tour with Explore Worldwide makes its way through some of Sarawak’s most well-known wilderness and cultural sites. Starting in Kuching, the route quickly heads out to Bako National Park, a small but varied reserve where proboscis monkeys and kingfishers attract attention alongside mangroves and sandy beaches.
A visit to the Semenggoh Orangutan Wildlife Centre offers a close look at semi-wild orangutans returning for their fruit feedings, followed by an overnight in a traditional Bidayuh longhouse. The village walk the next day passes plantations growing crops as varied as durian and rubber, with a picnic by a jungle waterfall providing an opportunity for a dip.
The latter part of the holiday is devoted to Mulu National Park, where limestone caves unfold on plank walks and trails, and glow-in-the-dark fungi and fireflies emerge after dusk. The final day takes the group to Kota Kinabalu for a free afternoon sampling the city’s diverse food scene before departure.
