Everest Base Camp

This escorted trek begins in Kathmandu, the bustling capital of Nepal, where the group gathers before a long drive to Salleri, gateway to the Everest region. From there, the route climbs through rhododendron forests, terraced fields and remote Sherpa villages, crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Khoshi River and passing Buddhist chortens along the way.

The trekking pace is steady, with time to rest and acclimatise in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. As altitude rises, the landscape shifts from dense pine forests to alpine meadows and rocky plateaux, with views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and finally Mount Everest itself at Base Camp. Nights are spent in simple, traditional teahouses often with shared facilities but welcoming communal dining rooms.

The route retraces much of the trail down the Khumbu Valley and finishes back in Kathmandu with a walking tour of the bazaar and Boudhanath stupa. The gradual ascent and descent allow proper acclimatisation, and the mixture of terrain and communities encountered offers a solid sense of life at high altitude beyond the headline mountain.
