Cruise · 14 nights · with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines
Fred. Olsen’s Borealis sails from Liverpool through the Faroe Islands and Iceland to Greenland’s fjords and icebergs, then back via Belfast on a 14-night cruise focused on Arctic landscapes and quiet coastal towns.
Highlights
The Prins Christian Sund fjord’s narrow passage and cliffs
Time in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands’ capitalWith vivid houses
Narsarsuaq’s access to Greenland’s glaciers
Three days sailing across the North Atlantic
Belfast’s maritime heritage and shipyards
Starting in Liverpool, Borealis makes a leisurely crossing before calling at Tórshavn, the Faroe Islands’ main town where colourful houses cluster above a working harbour. Reykjavík follows, an island capital sprinkled with quirky modern architecture and steaming geothermal pools just outside town.
After Iceland, the cruise heads into Greenland’s south coast, navigating the narrow Prins Christian Sund, watched carefully for imposing cliffs and floating ice. Narsarsuaq is the gateway to Greenland’s interior glaciers, while nearby Qaqortoq is one of the few places with painted houses contrasting with deep fjord waters. The small port of Nanortalik continues the theme of Arctic settlements with a slower, more remote pace.
Three days crossing the Atlantic bring the ship to Belfast, returning to the United Kingdom with a chance to stretch legs in a city shaped by its shipbuilding past. Fred. Olsen’s Borealis provides space to enjoy the ice and mountain views without the crush of bigger ships. There is time on deck to spot birds or sea mammals under Arctic skies before heading home to Liverpool.
