About the trip

Fred. Olsen's Borealis sets out from Liverpool to cruise a selection of Norway's western fjords, calling at Olden and Eidfjord on the way north. Olden offers the chance to take the Loen Skylift skywards or head to the Briksdal Glacier, a rare sight accessible from a peaceful village.

The route passes through Nordfjord, Maurangerfjord and the Hardangerfjord where the Fureberg waterfall can be admired from the ship’s deck. Bergen is next, with a funicular up Mount Fløyen that's hard to resist after a day at sea. The return calls at Lerwick in the Shetlands, less than a long shot north-east of Scotland, before the final crossing back to Liverpool.

This cruise is drawn at a steady pace, plenty of time to watch fjord life and shoreline from the ship without the rush of multiple short port calls. That feeling of space and quiet carries right through until the final day, which rounds off with easy sailing back across the North Sea.
