About the trip

Setting off from Newcastle, the cruise quickly crosses the North Sea and begins winding through Norway’s Lysefjord, where cliffs tower above the water. The first port of call is Bergen, known for its old wooden harbour district and surrounding mountains. From there, the ship heads to Skjolden, Norway’s innermost fjord port, surrounded by dramatic peaks and glaciers.

The route continues through Lustrafjord, part of the Sognefjord system, then Fjærlandsfjorden and Olden, where glaciers are within reach. The week finishes with a visit to Åndalsnes, at the end of the Romsdalsfjorden. Along the way there’s plenty of time on deck to watch the scenery change, and you might spot local wildlife or fishing vessels busy with their work.

The Bolette is one of Fred. Olsen’s smaller ships, able to navigate these fjords where larger vessels cannot venture. It’s a quiet, deliberate pace, with two days of sailing to take in the detail of the fjords rather than rush through them.
