About the trip

Setting out from Liverpool, this cruise spends its first day at sea before reaching Lerwick in the Shetland Islands, where the North Atlantic air carries a faint salt and peat scent. From there, Borealis heads to Norway, cruising Midfjorden en route to Molde, a town known for its views over fjord waters and hills.

Åndalsnes offers a foothold for a journey along Trollstigen, the twisting mountain road carved into steep cliffs. The cruise then slips through Romsdalsfjorden and calls at Olden, close to the Briksdal glacier and the Loen Skylift cable car, which rises sharply for panoramas over fjords and mountains. With a day cruising Nordfjord before setting off back to Liverpool, two days are spent at sea, providing time to reflect on the waterfalls heard and glimpsed through the windows of Borealis.
