About the trip

This week-long cruise with Fred. Olsen’s Balmoral offers a steady pace through some of Norway’s most varied fjord landscapes. From Rosyth, the ship sails north to Olden, where visits often include nearby Briksdal Glacier, a slow-moving tongue of ice fed by Jostedalsbreen, visible on a daytime walk. The route then follows the Nordfjord, passing Hornelen cliff — Europe’s highest sea cliff — before heading into the narrower Lustrafjord and Sognefjord.

Several days cruise the fjords, but not only water. Stops at Skjolden, Leirvik and Eidfjord provide time on land, with the latter near Hardangerfjord’s orchards and the Langfoss waterfall, which pours down 612 metres and can be seen from the ship. Balmoral’s size allows it to slip into fjords often inaccessible to larger vessels, bringing the landscapes remarkably close.

Returning to Rosyth after seven nights, the cruise offers a chance to unwind in rugged surroundings without the rush. No sudden changes of scenery, just waterfalls you can hear from the deck and glacier blue beyond.
