About the trip

This week-long cruise with Ambassador Cruise Line sets off from Newcastle Tyne, heading north into Norway’s fjord country. First calls include Austefjorden, a small and gentle fjord before reaching Bergen, a city sheltering wooden wharves and a steep old town where fish stalls cluster.

Following Bergen, the ship calls at Flam, a village set at the head of the Aurlandsfjord. From the ship, you’ll cruise two of Norway’s longest fjords, the Sognefjord and its quieter offshoot, Aurlandsfjord, where mountains drop almost vertically to the water’s edge. Onward to Nordfjordeid and the nearby Nordfjord, before arriving at Geiranger, where the fjord walls rise to steep waterfalls and scattered farms clinging to the cliffs. Geirangerfjord is one of the most visited Norwegian fjords, yet the Ambition’s scale allows a quieter view of the area.

The ship then returns to Newcastle, retracing its journey down the coast. The Ambition is a practical and comfortable vessel built for these northern waters, offering a chance to observe the landscapes from the water rather than rushing through them.
