Start in Kolkata, where British colonial buildings and the patches of Bengali life mingle in the city's streets and colourful markets. The clay modeller’s village Kumartuli offers a year-round exhibition of religious art in progress. From there, the tour veers into the mangroves of the Sundarbans, where winding waterways pass watch towers and tigers’ haunts.
Next comes Darjeeling, perched at over 2,000 metres with its cool air, near vertical streets and expanse of tea plantations. A dawn trip to Tiger Hill sets the Himalayan peaks in sharp relief, weather permitting. The Toy Train ride to Ghoom Gompa, with an optional walk back along a ridge, adds a more local, slower-paced experience.
Crossing into Bhutan reveals its tranquil side, with visits to monasteries like Punakha Dzong and the cliff-hanging Tiger’s Nest. The journey ends in Kathmandu where the bazaar and Durbar Square unfold a daily scene of shops, artisans and stray sacred cows. This escorted small-group holiday offers an unhurried way to follow a route threading history, spirituality and natural beauty.
