About the trip
Travelsphere’s escorted tour travels through the eastern United States over ten nights, focusing on some of the nation’s most historic towns and landmarks. Starting in Washington DC, the itinerary includes visits to the Capitol, the White House and Arlington National Cemetery, where a guided trolley tour stops at the Kennedy gravesite. There’s time to explore the city’s many free Smithsonian museums or make an evening drive around the capital’s illuminated monuments.
The route heads south to Jamestown, the first English colony in America, before moving to Charlottesville to tour Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and the university town’s walkable historic core. Along the way, the trip crosses the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Skyline Drive, pausing at scenic overlooks and the site of John Brown’s raid at Harpers Ferry.
Further north, Gettysburg’s battlefield and Philadelphia’s original capital offer grounding in the Civil War and American independence, with the chance to see Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and some local Amish culture. The final stop is New York City, where sights from Broadway to Chinatown fill the day before the flight home.
