About the trip

This escorted tour with G Adventures follows the historic Trans Bhutan Trail, an ancient network of paths once used by monks, traders and royalty. Beginning in Thimphu, the capital, the route passes Buddha Point and Punakha Dzong before trekking through high mountain passes and riverside valleys. Along the way, the group stays in a mixture of hotels, homestays and camping with local families, sharing farm lunches and participating in traditional cooking sessions. Walking stays close to the land: the Divine Madman Trail and Pelela Pass segments bring you into contact with countryside and communities rarely seen by visitors. Roads across mountain switchbacks are bumpy, a notch below what Western drivers expect.
