About the trip
This 12-night tour with G Adventures weaves through northern India before moving into the hills of Bhutan. Starting in Delhi, it balances the palette of city life — its markets and kitchens, the urban sprawl — with the colourful rural rhythms of Rajasthan. Jaipur brings a chance to see the Palace of the Winds and visit local workshops for block printing.
In Agra, the Taj Mahal draws the eye with its marble symmetry, while the adjoining Agra Fort offers red sandstone contrast. Crossing into Bhutan, the pace changes; mountain walks, village farms and the rhythm of dzongs punctuate the days. The hike to Taktsang Monastery, or Tiger’s Nest, is a highlight: a sweep of Himalayan views beneath a cliff-hung temple.
Local guides and a G Adventures Chief Experience Officer accompany the group, usually about 14-18 travellers. Most nights are in comfortable hotels, with one night under canvas, and transport mixes private vehicle with rickshaws and walking.
