About the trip
This week-long journey begins on the island of Koh Samui, where a traditional longtail boat carries travellers through the waters of the Gulf of Thailand to the more secluded Hong Island. The trip then winds inland to Khao Sok National Park, where the forest unexpectedly resembles a primeval scene, and a night feast beneath the rainforest canopy offers a rare sense of place. From here, a longtail boat crossing of the Krabi River leads into the town's villages, where motorised tuk-tuks negotiate narrow lanes and rural markets.
