Signature: Kenya & Rwanda — From the Mara to the Mist

This 14-night journey with G Adventures takes you from Kenya's dry savannahs through to the mist-laden peaks of Rwanda. Start in Nairobi, then fly to Samburu Game Reserve where you’ll spot elephants and other wildlife in northern sanctuaries, followed by drives through the Maasai Mara’s expansive plains, home to diverse game. Evenings offer a chance for stargazing, with mythology from the night sky on hand from a naturalist.

Cross into Rwanda for a different landscape and pace. Kigali includes a private tour of the Genocide Memorial followed by a sobering discussion with a survivor. In Nyungwe Forest, trek amid ancient volcanic rainforests to find chimpanzees, then visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. The tour concludes with gorilla and golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park, set above the clouds on Rwanda's western highlands. Throughout, conservation themes are woven in a way that invites reflection without overwhelming.

Accommodation moves from Nairobi to tented safari camps and lodges, with local flights quite handy though luggage is strictly limited. While some journeys feel rushed, this one balances active days with moments simply to be present.
