Outside the capital, you’ll hike the sand dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai and Khugnu Khan Mountain, and stay in traditional gers—Mongolia’s round felt tents with wooden frames. There’s an archery session and time with a nomadic family, where lunch includes homemade dumplings made in good company.

The trip ends with an overnight on the Trans-Mongolian Railway to Beijing, arriving mid-afternoon after stepping through the endless Mongolian steppe. The contrast between wild Mongolia and bustling Beijing provides two markedly different chapters within a short space of time.
