Further south, the tour moves through Mysore with its palace and hilltop Chamundi temple, then on to Tamil Nadu’s stone temples and the chocolate-box Shore Temple of Mamallapuram. It also visits spice plantations near Thekkady, where the scent of cardamom lingers in the air. The trek finishes with a stay in Kerala’s backwaters, including a homestay and a slow boat ride that contrasts with the bustling cities earlier in the trip.

Traveling mostly in small groups with a local Chief Experience Officer, the holiday blends train journeys and shorter drives, with plenty of time for local markets and cultural moments such as a Kathakali dance.
