Walking the Corfu Trail (North)

This seven-night walking holiday with Explore Worldwide follows the northern part of the Corfu Trail, starting from the hillside village of Liapades. Over the first days, the route climbs cobbled footpaths and old roads past small villages like Lakones and Prinilas, then dips down to the sandy beach of Agios Georgios.

Midweek brings a more demanding section: the Karst Plateau and the ascent to Pantokrator Mountain’s summit, where the monastery looks out towards Albania’s mountains. Along the way, there’s a chance to pause in Palia Perithia, a deserted village with a taverna that seems to be holding time steady. The group spends several nights in Kalami, a quiet coastal village with white pebbles and the modest claim to fame of Lawrence Durrell’s old writing retreat.

The final days drift away from exertion with a tour of Corfu Town’s Venetian centre and optional visits nearby, while the route draws a line roughly north to south and covers a little over 80 kilometres on mixed terrain. There is a free day to rest legs or take optional walks on the peninsula.
