This eight-night tour from Explore Worldwide focuses on Morocco’s north, travelling steadily through Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Meknes, Fes and Marrakech. It kicks off with Casablanca’s Atlantic rumble and the vast Hassan II Mosque, before moving on to the quieter coastal charm of Rabat’s medina and kasbah. A longish journey takes you inland to the blue-tinged streets of Chefchaouen, where you can wander narrow alleyways high in the Rif Mountains and relax on a riad’s sunlit terrace.
The tour continues to Meknes, where a pastry-making class at a local home is followed by a quick trip to a nearby vineyard. Then it’s into Fes for a full day led by a guide, winding through medina lanes and artisan workshops, finishing with a pastilla demonstration. The final destination is Marrakech, reached by first-class train. Here, the sounds and smells of Jemaa el-Fna accompany a guided tour of the city’s landmarks and a last evening cookery class focused on tagines.
The pace allows time both for shared meals with hosts and for independent wandering, so you get more than the usual highlights. The route includes good stretches by road and an extended train journey that captures the shift from northern plains to the Atlas foothills, making each move part of the story rather than just a transfer.
