About the trip

The trip commences in Athens, heading north along Greece's varied landscape. Along the way, there are walks through Volos with its taverns sampling local meze, and a visit to the Thermopylae battleground, made famous by the movie 300. You will also explore the slopes of Mount Olympus National Park, a rugged area reputedly home to the gods.

Crossing into Turkey, the tour offers an orientation walk around Thessaloniki, a city replete with historical layers and the Archaeological Museum to underline them. Travelling east, the old town of Kavala and the city of Alexandroupoli provide further insights before the journey concludes in Istanbul, where European and Asian cultures mingle in a feast of architecture and cuisine.
