About the trip
This escorted tour begins in Cusco, where the mix of Inca stonework beneath Spanish colonial rooftops sets the tone. Walk through Sacsayhuaman’s fortress walls, then head down winding Inca trails to artisan cafés and markets in San Blas.
Leaving the city behind, the route follows the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo’s terraces, then to Misminay, a village where families still live by mountain rhythms and home cooking. A train brings the group alongside the Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes, the gateway town for a timed visit to Machu Picchu’s classic viewpoints and temples.
The journey continues with a long travel day along mountain passes to Puno on Lake Titicaca, where the floating reed islands of the Uros and the quieter Taquile Island reveal traditional life at altitude. The final days take in the sprawl of Lima, from colonial plazas and bohemian Barranco’s street art to opportunities for seaside walks or sampling the city’s mix of indigenous and immigrant cuisines.
