Historic Baltic Republics

This small-group tour begins in Tallinn, Estonia’s capital, where medieval cobbled streets lead to a town hall dating back to the 14th century and the hilltop Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. From there, you’ll cross to Saaremaa island, home to ancient windmills and a meteorite crater almost as impactful as it sounds.

Moving on to Latvia, the tour visits Riga with its mix of gothic and art nouveau architecture, alongside countryside castles like Turaida in Gauja National Park. The route then leads to Lithuania, crossing the Curonian Spit with its ever-shifting sand dunes and the Hill of Crosses, a remarkable testament to resilience in a small hill covered in thousands of handmade crosses.

The final days are spent among Lithuania’s Baroque monasteries, a island castle at Trakai, and Vilnius with its Jesuit-founded university and chapels. The pace is measured, allowing time to take in the local flavours and histories that are often easy to overlook on busier itineraries.
