This small-group escorted tour from Just You takes in the calm of Portugal’s Lisbon Coast over the Christmas week, beginning in the coastal town of Cascais. After settling in, there’s time to wander the town or relax before a welcome dinner.
On Christmas Eve the tour visits Óbidos, where whitewashed houses surround a striking medieval castle and narrow cobbled streets are lined with local shops selling cherry liqueur and handicrafts. Christmas Day itself is spent mostly at leisure in Cascais, with a shared festive lunch and dinner to break up the day. Boxing Day offers a taste of history and geography with a visit to Sintra’s palaces and the rocky headland of Cabo da Roca, Portugal’s westernmost mainland point.
After a day with a panoramic tour of Lisbon — including its Moorish Quarter and Belém landmarks — there’s a trip to the vast Baroque National Palace at Mafra. The library, with its marble and intricate woodwork, is a highlight before the final return to Lisbon and the flight home.
