About the trip

This eight-night tour starts and ends in Croatia, travelling through Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik with plenty of opportunity to stretch the legs and sample local life. You’ll stroll the crystal-clear cascades of Plitvice Lakes National Park and then take a hike around the waterfalls of Krka Lakes. Between nature walks, the itinerary includes orientation strolls past Split’s ancient Diocletian’s Palace and Dubrovnik’s city walls, which you may find familiar if you follow seaside medieval architecture.

The journey also takes in islands accessible by ferry, including a full day on Zlarin island after plans to visit Prvic are altered due to ferry port reconstruction. Along the way, local food is part of the picture, with a walking food tour in Zadar and an oyster and wine sampling session in Uvala Bistrina.

The tour leader focuses on practical city layouts and useful local information rather than formal historical lectures, and the group is limited to a maximum of sixteen travellers. Accommodation tends to be family-run hotels with central locations, often without elevators, adding a touch of old-world character.
