Solo-ish Egypt

This nine-day journey with G Adventures takes in some of Egypt's most renowned landmarks and its less heralded local life. After arriving in Cairo, the tour begins with the Great Pyramid of Giza and a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum. An overnight train whisks the group south to Aswan, where sailing a traditional felucca along the Nile provides a welcome change of pace.

In Aswan, the Philae temple is visited by boat before sharing a meal with a Nubian family — a chance to step more gently into contemporary Egyptian life. Luxor offers its own bazaars and monuments, including the Karnak temple and the West Bank. Throughout, the group meals range from street food dinners in Cairo’s backstreets to local family lunches in small villages, lending a flavour of everyday Egypt.
