About the trip
This six-night journey aboard the Yolita takes you through some of the southern and eastern Galápagos Islands with G Adventures. After an arrival day in Quito, you catch an internal flight to the Galápagos, sailing between sites where marine life gathers in numbers worthy of note: snorkelling at Gardner Bay and Islote Champion reveals sea lions and colourful fish in water temperatures generally in the mid-20s Celsius.
Landings take you ashore to white sand beaches shared with iguanas and sea lions. Punta Pitt presents an opportunity to spot three species of booby, each distinctive in its plumage and behaviour. Nearby, Kicker Rock rises dramatically from the sea, its basalt cliffs a favoured haunt of frigatebirds and other seabirds.
The itinerary also includes a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz Island, where the efforts to preserve this unique archipelago are evident. The group size is small, usually around a dozen, favouring a more intimate experience of this distinct environment and wildlife. The naturalist guide aboard brings local knowledge throughout, which adds depth beyond the usual postcard views.
