About the trip

This G Adventures small-group tour begins in Lima, where you'll cycle through its more modern districts such as Miraflores and Barranco. From there, the route heads to the Sacred Valley for several days, with visits to the Inca ruins of Pisaq and opportunities for local interactions in Lamay and Pisac.

The Inca Trail hike follows, spread over four days with accommodation upgraded from the usual tents to cots with air mattresses and blankets, easing the less pleasant nights that trekking can bring. Campsites are less crowded with later starts included, letting you rest and take in the mountain scenery before making your way to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate. Machu Picchu is explored on a guided tour on a pre-assigned circuit.

The last leg winds down with two days in the Amazon Jungle, where naturalist-led excursions by boat and on foot aim to spot monkeys and tropical birds. The holiday concludes back in Lima with a meal alongside an ancient adobe pyramid, rounding off the varied landscape of this Peruvian adventure.
