Tour · 9 nights · with Travelsphere
A nine-night escorted safari with Travelsphere in South Africa’s malaria-free Kaingo Private Game Reserve, centred on wildlife drives and river cruises from the Royal Morubisi Lodge.
Highlights
Game drives in South Africa’s Kaingo Private Game Reserve
Sundowner boat cruise on the Mokolo River
Bush walk focusing on animal tracks and signs
Evening dinner in a lantern-lit outdoor boma
Talk on conservation projects at the reserve
This Travelsphere escorted tour begins with a flight from the UK to Johannesburg, then transfers to the Royal Morubisi Founders Lodge within the Kaingo Private Game Reserve. This 16,400-hectare reserve in the Waterberg region offers diverse landscapes from grassy plains to mountain bushveld, where the group sets off on afternoon game drives and meets the local staff.
Journeys
The days that follow combine early morning and late afternoon game drives with the chance to spot the Big 5—lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos and buffalo—alongside smaller wildlife and birdlife. One morning includes a bush walk to observe animal tracks up close, followed by a river cruise on the Mokolo River to watch hippos and crocodiles from a sundowner boat.
The lodge’s setting beside the river means evenings can be spent dining outdoors by a lantern-lit fire pit or relaxing in a bar with an open fire. Conservation and research underpin the reserve’s ethos, and guests have the opportunity to learn about ongoing projects during a talk from the team. The tour concludes with a return to Johannesburg and a flight back to the UK.
