Tanzania Family Journey: A Serengeti Safari

This seven-night tour with G Adventures takes you from Arusha through some of Tanzania’s most well-known landscapes and communities. It begins with a visit to Mto wa Mbu, where you’ll meet a local artist and try your hand at making banana leaf artwork, as well as join efforts at the Clean Cookstove Project. Later, you’ll take wildlife drives across the Serengeti Plain, scanning for lions, elephants and the other members of the 'Big 5'.

The following days include walks along the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, offering views of one of the world’s largest volcanic calderas, accompanied by a local artist for a painting session inspired by the scenery. Accommodation varies from safari lodges to tents with mosquito netting and en-suite facilities, reflecting the practicalities of the region. Travel often involves long drives on rough roads, but the 4x4 vehicles have pop-up roofs for wildlife spotting and comfort.

Throughout the trip, the emphasis is on a small-group expedition style that balances wildlife observation with cultural exchange, facilitated by local guides and G Adventures’ Expedition Leaders. Meals, transport between destinations and entrance fees are generally included, with moments of genuine interaction rather than scripted sightseeing.
