About the trip
This eight-night escorted tour from G Adventures takes families through Greece’s ancient landmarks coupled with a good measure of hands-on activities that children and adults can both appreciate. Starting in Athens, visits include the Acropolis Museum and the nearby Agora, sites that trace the foundations of Western democracy and daily life in classical times. A stroll through the National Gardens offers some breathing space before ferrying across to the island of Paros.
Paros presents its own treasures, including the church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani, a remarkable Byzantine building with one hundred doors. Here, a cooking class introduces traditional Parian dishes, revealing how local ingredients and simple techniques combine in Greek cuisine. The adventure continues on Crete with a treasure hunt in Heraklion that’s as much about testing wits as sightseeing. Swimming and snorkeling opportunities provide welcome breaks from the historical exploration. The group travels with two expedition leaders and stays in local hotels, blending a family-friendly pace with immersive experiences.
