About the trip

This G Adventures small-group tour begins in Madaba, Jordan, where the oldest surviving map of the Holy Land resides in mosaic on a church floor. From there, a 4x4 ride traverses the dramatic dunes of Wadi Araba, before crossing the Gulf of Aqaba to Dahab, a relaxed Red Sea town known for the Blue Hole, a snorkelling site famed for its clear waters and marine life.

The journey continues to Saint Catherine’s Monastery, reputedly the world’s oldest active Christian monastery, situated under the shadow of Mount Sinai. A sunrise hike to the summit, where tradition places the reception of the Ten Commandments by Moses, is a highlight for those willing to rise early. Along the way, the tour uses a mix of vehicles including private transport and 4x4s, with one night camping in a Bedouin camp offering a change from hotel stays.
