About the trip
This compact two-week tour begins in Johannesburg, offering an introduction to South Africa before heading into the wild surrounds of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Here, guests camp in safari tents and navigate the Delta by mokoro canoe, a traditional dugout, soaking in sounds and sights that only a gentle paddle can reveal.
The itinerary then threads through the Mapesu Private Reserve and Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls, each a remarkable contrast: the former for walking safaris where the bush is close and the tracks less predictable; the latter for its vast mist-crowned waterfall and an opportunity to watch traditional dances in the shadow of the Zambezi River. The tour finishes in Kruger National Park, where open safari vehicles track lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo and leopards – though the "big five" are always elusive, even when not hiding behind an overused phrase.
