Wild Sumatra to Gili Bliss: The Ultimate Adventure

This is a small-group adventure that threads together some of Indonesia’s varied terrain and cultures over three weeks. Beginning in Sumatra, the itinerary includes jungle trekking around Bukit Lawang with a chance to spot orangutans, and camping beneath rainforest canopies. From there, a quick flight leads to Bali, where volcanic peaks such as Mount Batur stand opposite local temples like Ulun Danu, and a sunrise climb is coupled with a soak in nearby hot springs.

The trip then turns quieter on Lombok. Rice terrace walks in Tempasan village bring encounters with local farmers, while textile workshops in Pringgasela showcase traditional weaving. The days end with local feasts and village visits. Finally, the journey unfolds on the Gili Islands, where snorkelling between three islands lets you watch reef fish and corals close to the surface.

Groups travel by private vehicle, walking, becak and speedboat, staying in a mix of hotels, homestays and tents, with some multi-share accommodation.
